Dr. Ed Calle

 

​Dr. Ed Calle earned a Doctor of Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern Univesrsity (2010), and earned a Master of Music in Studio Music and Jazz (2000), and a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone from the University of Miami (1984). Dr Calle serves as Professor of Music Business and Production at Miami Dade College where he teaches music business, sound recording, jazz and popular music appreciation, applied harmony, saxophone, and commercial music ensemble courses. Dr. Calle also served as Chairperson of Arts & Philosophy at the North Campus from 2011 - 2013. 

 

Dr. Calle is one of the most recorded saxophonists in history appearing on some more than 1,200 CDs and more than 8,500 singles. He is a four-time Grammy nominee who can be heard as a soloist and featured artist on countless Gramy Award winning CDs.

 

Ed lives with his wife Sari and children Jonathan, Sydney, and Lauren in the West Kendall area of Miami-Dade County. Dr. Calle was named King of Carmival Miami 2013 and Champion of Education in Arts and Entertainment by the United Teachers of Dade in 2014. He tours the globe as a soloist and a featured soloist with his ensembles, Arturo Sandoval, Negroni's Trio, the World Music 5, the Miami Saxophone Quartet, 14 Jazz Orchestra, and the Afro-Cuban Funk super-group PALO!
